Doghmosh Family and Israeli Snipers

Note: In the course of researching The Guardian article, I came across information (below) from B'Tselem regarding at least 12 members of the Daghmash family killed by Hamas September 14, 2008. Given Hamas's long history of killing those it deems Israeli collaborators, it shouldn't be ruled out that the people below were actually killed by Hamas operatives.

  • Montasser Doghmosh (منتصر دغمش), their father, reportedly shot dead

Per a September 9th, 2025 report in The Guardian, "Five-month investigation reveals how four members of one family were shot and killed in a single day and highlights a pattern in which Israeli troops target unarmed civilians."
[...]
"A five-month investigation by the Guardian, Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ) and Paper Trail Media, Der Spiegel and ZDF has identified six people shot by Israeli snipers on 22 November 2023. And through interviews with survivors, witnesses and relatives, reviews of death certificates, medical records and geolocated images we revealed how a family from Gaza City’s Tal al-Hawa neighbourhood was torn apart in a few hours by men who grew up in Naperville, Illinois and Munich, Germany."
[...]
"The Doghmosh family’s tragedy unfolded on a short stretch of Moneer al-Rayyes Street in Gaza City, near the Barcelona Garden park."

From Google Maps (September 12, 2025):

From The Guardian: "Mohammed, who was 26 when he was killed, had a high school diploma and supported the family by gathering waste metal and plastic for resale. Salem had dropped out after 10th grade and joined him."
[...]
Aspects of the video raise questions about whether it shows this shooting, however. Weapons experts who examined it were divided over whether a projectile visible in several frames was a bullet from a sniper rifle. The images show a man hit in the back, while Youssef says Mohammed was shot from the front.

But if what Raab and Mohammed’s relatives say is true, Graetz appears to have killed Mohammed because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Neither man was carrying a weapon.

In November 2023 Israeli forces operating in the area decided that section of Moneer al-Rayyes Street was off-limits to civilians, without notifying Palestinians. Raab described it as a “combat zone” where any man of military age was “marked for death”.

Airwars

From a post last updated February 11, 2025:
At least 64 people were killed and at least six others were injured after an alleged Israeli airstrike on the Ihyaa al-Sina mosque in the al-Daghamsha neighbourhood of al-Sabra, south of Gaza City.

The Palestinian News Agency reported “around 50” people had been killed, which Arabi 21 News corroborated. Many of those who were identified were members of the Daghmush family, who were responsible for the mosque’s construction and were highly involved in the community. Airwars identified the names of 61 members of the family, and the identity of at least three others killed. Ahram Online News reported that the mosque had been housing “hundreds of displaced individuals” at the time of the strike.

The names of victims listed below were found through open source research. The patriarch of the family, Saleh Daghmush, was killed, along with his son—who remains unnamed—and the son’s family. Saleh’s two brothers, Fatah Ashour Daghmush and Fayek Ashour Daghmush were also killed. Fayek’s sons, Asali and Rasheed, were initially reported killed, but later learned to be injured. Other family members were killed: Ashour Hafez Daghmush, Tawfiq al-Bahri Daghmush and Yazan Muhammad al-Bahri Daghmush.
[...]
Many of those killed were found under rubble: journalist Ismail al-Ghoul [reported August 1, 2024 as "Eliminated" by the IDF], quoted by Free Journalism, reported that more than 50 people had been uncovered from under rubble, and all had been killed, adding that “dozens are still under the rubble until this moment.” A tweet from @basem_pal stated that Ahmed Daghmush had said that more than 100 members of the family were killed by the bombing of the mosque. On Facebook, a family member, Mohamed Mansour Daghmush, stated that others remained unidentified because of the “breakdown of communications.”
